This high-flying mod comes not too long after Super Mario Sunshine was released on the Nintendo Switch as part of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars compilation in September. Not every NPC will “chuck” Mario after they finish their dialogue, however, and Piantissimo and Shadow Mario won’t do it at all.
According to the video and Bread’s own webpage, this mod causes almost every NPC to toss Mario high into the air as if they were one of the titular Chucksters, as demonstrated by one elderly Toad sending the hapless hero skyward after a seemingly cordial conversation. Last week, indie game engineer Bread posted a brief clip of a Super Mario Sunshine mod he developed named “Oops! All Chucksters” to Twitter. This mini-stage is notoriously difficult among Super Mario Sunshine players due to the tricky mechanics used to determine where the Chucksters will send Mario soaring… which can lead to Nintendo’s favorite mascot being tossed into a river of molten lava as easily as his preferred destination.
These hero-tossing hula dancers first appear in the Super Mario Sunshine bonus level “Secret Of The Village Underside,” where Mario seeks their help in reaching a Secret Shine by having them throw him onto a platform a great distance away. Before this mod, the fondly remembered 2002 Nintendo Gamecube exclusive already had its titular plumber being launched into orbit by a certain type of Pianta called a Chuckster during his quest to clean up the island paradise of Isle Delfino with the help of his trusty F.L.U.D.D backpack. Mario might wish to be careful who he talks to in Super Mario Sunshine, as a new mod makes just about every NPC in the game want to toss him into the stratosphere.
